Andover Ramblers

at the heart of walking in North West Hampshire and the Test Valley

As you may have seen in the Summer 2015 Walk magazine, Ramblers HQ are promoting a major review of all the rights of way throughout England and Wales. They are seeking volunteers, both members and non-members, to help them with this by asking volunteers to walk the rights of way and report their findings, both good and bad. The way to get information about the Big Pathwatch and join in is to go to: http://www.ramblers.org.uk/bigpathwatch . As a group we have little additional information about this project. We have only been asked to encourage members to take part.

You may be aware that we already have a system for monitoring rights of way within our area and this work is carried out by our volunteer Footpath Wardens. This monitoring is well up-to-date with 82% of the footpaths having been inspected in the last 8 months. Those Andover Ramblers' members that do take part in the Big Pathwatch can help our local Group if, as well as reporting their findings to Ramblers HQ, they inform me (email: dclarkhants [AT] hotmail [DOT] com) of any problems they encounter giving the nature of the problem and the grid reference of where it occurred. I can then update our local system.

I hope that those who are interested fully take part in Big Pathwatch and enjoy the experience.
